Reiki for Kids: What to Expect

I’ve been fortunate to have built a Reiki practice where people from all walks of life can feel welcome. Many of my clients have never had a healing session before so I explain to them the process and what they should experience during and after.

Recently, I have seen a growing trend of parents getting in touch with me to book Reiki treatments for their children. Reiki is a great treatment for young people. By being exposed to its calming and peaceful energy, they can gain improved confidence and serenity. It encourages relaxation and gives them the strength to cope with life's challenges. Introducing children to Reiki from an early age can be beneficial in teaching them healthy habits and helping them make more informed decisions. These good practices can create a positive lifestyle for them as they grow older and lead to a balanced life in the long term.

Reiki is completely safe and non-invasive and can be helpful for children who face growing pressures such as anxiety, fear, or pressure to perform in school. Reiki has also proved to be beneficial for treating conditions affecting children, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), poor focus and concentration, irritability, emotional problems, and hyperactivity.

Reiki operates on all levels of the body - physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual – to bring balance. It can be used to help remedy many different kinds of ailments while also offering a calming and nurturing experience for both parents and children.

There are some differences when I’m working with a child compared to an adult. For very young children, I sit in the same room as them and send gentle energy without touching them. It’s important to let the child lead the session and let me know what they are comfortable with. As the child becomes more relaxed and open to the benefits of Reiki, tweaks can be done to how it is administered. For children under 12, I request that a parent or caregiver be in the room during the session. For older children, that decision is between the parent and child.

Adapting to changes takes time. I encourage parents to learn Reiki in order for them to provide their children with the natural healing technique daily. As a result, kids can become more empowered, relaxed, and better equipped for recovering from illnesses.
